I got Sleep Buddy recently for a 2 year old that is about to move to a big girl bed. I had heard wonderful successes from friends and so I thought would give it a try. My six year old also had a sleep issue where he would wake up scared and come and sleep in our bed on most nights. Well as most mothers know, nobody sleeps well in a bed that has a squirmy child in the middle of it. I decided to try using the sleep buddy with my six year old. We read the book together but since it was meant for younger kids, we had a big discussion about it too. I explained to him that when the light was on, it was still night time and that the light was there to remind him that Mommy and Daddy love him and are praying for him to sleep well. The light also reminds you that we are protecting you and are just right down the hall in our room. It worked wonders the first night. Our son came out the next morning and told us right away that "he woke while it was still dark but that the light reminded him that he was loved and prayed for". It continued to work and now that his body has gotten out of the pattern of waking at night, he doesn't wake at all anymore. Our 2 year old is also asking for her night-night light now too. She has watched her big brother use it and is really excited to have one too.
