A SleepBuddy for Caleb

This morning I introduced SleepBuddy to Caleb (22 months)! I know, I know…the parent’s guide I wrote says to do it BEFORE a sleep period, but I wanted to try it a new way to see if it would work. He shares a room with big brother James and he’s still in a crib. Lately he’s been calling “Mommy, Mommy” over and over again when he wakes up, which of course disturbs James and sometimes me if it’s early enough. Another reason I want to get him used to it is so that once he’s ready for a big-boy bed the transition will be smooth and easy.

As soon as he started calling this morning I ran in there, plugged in the SB, programmed it, and gave him the low-down. After I left he looked at his books and laid down until it turned off! He only had to wait about 15 minutes, so it was a nice little practice run. At naptime, he called for me and kept looking at it over his shoulder (I watched him on the monitor). When it turned off he pointed to it and waited for me to come get him. Not perfect yet, but I’m hoping it won’t take but a few nights/naps before he catches on. He’s a pretty persistent kid, so there’s no telling how long it will take! Luckily he has a stubborn mommy who won’t give up. :) I’ll keep you posted!
